Paper Bag Curls Tutorial
No heat Involved!
This tutorial will show you how to take something simple like brown paper bags and curl your hair with them. Yup! Just with paper bags.
Start off with damp hair but not wet hair as that will soak the paper making it useless; Make sure it's tangle free.
Get a few paper bags ready. Take your paper bags and strip them down vertically. With a pair of scissors cut the ends off. Snip! Now your paper bags are ready.
Get your hair ready too- 'cause we're gonna start rolling. Oh, and don't forget to tie half of your hair up. Get a small section of your hair ready- the magic is going to begin.
Take your paper bag and wrap it around your hair like so. Here, i'll come up close to show you. Pull it down, and twist the hair around it until you have a v-like shape. While the hair is still wrapped in the paper, start rolling up your hair. I'll show you again. Basically you just wrap, pull down, twist, secure, and roll.
If you're at a friends house who owns no hair curling appliances, or you need to give your hair a break from the heat without sacrificing beautiful curls, this tutorial is definately for you. It just comes to show you that simple things in life can really come in handy.
Now I have the bottom section finished it's time to take down the rest of my hair. Now when you roll the rolls should be tighter beacuse the top part of your hair should have tighter curls. It's also healthy to have a break from your heated appliances. For those who want to grow out their hair faster, try to use less heat. Trim the bottom ends of your hair so that your split-ends don't split up to your roots. Remember, keep rollin rollin rollin. The more you do this the better you get.
You'll start to notice that your paper curls look better towards the end 'cause you've had lots of practice. If you can't tie it in a knot, you can always twist it. It's a little hard not doing this in front of a mirror so I had to play a lot of guessing games. I'm almost finished and I really can't wait to be done. Finished!
Now we play the waiting game. You can either A, wait until your hair is fully dry and take out the paper, B if you're in a hurry then you can go ahead and take a blowdryer and on cool air- blow dry it. Or, like me just go to sleep in them. Rise and shine! I know, sleeping with paper in your hair is not pleasant, but you get used to it once you use this method often.
Start taking out your paper. Gently twist it off your hair, and voila- we have a beatiful curl from a paper bag. Now this is the fun part- removing all the papers. You will feel extremely liberated once you have removed all of the papers. Make sure you run your fingers through your hair just in case you have a piece of paper stuck in the back of your hair, cause you don't want your friends to see it- they'll think you're crazy. Once you're done you can rub wax, mousse or other hair products into your hair. As I left my papers on too long my waves are extremely curly. What I like to do id run my fingers through them with mousse or style them accordingly.
If you wait until the next day, these curls will turn into voluminous waves. Have fun and don't forget to recycle your papers! Good Luck!
