Dark circles and bags under the eyes can be a problem for everyone, men and women. They can be very aging and can make you look ill. Luckily there are a few simple steps you can take yourself to tackle this problem at home, without needing to visit a dermatologist.

Underlying health issues like allergies, hay fever and eczema can be a result of an allergic reaction to things like dust and pollen, and can cause puffiness and black circles. These allergies can be relieved by taking an over the counter allergy medicine which in turn should help to relieve your panda eyes. Its also possible you may have an allergy or intolerance to certain foods. Taking a multivitamin containing vitamins B6 and B12 can sometimes help with allergy symptoms.

Dehydration. In many people can this can cause dark circles under the eyes. Aim to drink at least 8 glasses of water per day. This hydrates your whole body, including your skin. Reducing dark circles and bags.

Lack of sleep is a common cause of dark circles and puffiness under the eyes. Aim to get your full eight hours per night. Lack of sleep can make your skin paler increasing the appearance of dark areas around the eyes.

Under eye vitamin K moisturising creams are available specifically formulated for under-eye use. They are typically applied at night just before bed to hydrate the skin round your eyes as you sleep. There are also Anti-fatigue under eye roll-on treatments available especially for men. Remember these creams don’t work instantly they will take a few days to take effect.

Use make up to cover up the dark circles. Use concealer under the eyes to lighten the darkness and blend in to the surrounding skin.

Quit smoking.  This step might not be popular with some people! Smoking reduces the blood supply to your skin and ages it prematurely making it thinner, so making the veins and blood vessels under your eyes more visible. Hence the dark circles.

Don’t rub your eyes.  If your job involves staring at a computer monitor for prolonged periods you might be suffering from dry irritated and itchy eyes. Try to resist the urge to rub them as this damages the thin skin under your eyes and will only make them worse. Instead try soothing eyes drops to relieve the irritation and take regular breaks if possible.

Wear sunglasses when you are out and about on a sunny day to protect the delicate skin around your eyes. This may also help reduce the appearance of dark circles as the skin on the rest of your face will be a shade darker.

I have been growing carnivorous plants for around 7 years now but I am a bicycle mechanic by trade who loves cars! I'll probably write a few guides around these interests as I like the thought of helping out people who like the same stuff as me but don't know how to get started.
