Herpes is an extremely common virus that effects one in four people in the US alone and is spreading rapidly every year. One of the reasons that the disease is spreading so quickly is because it is often misdiagnosed to be something else such as a rash or allergic reaction to something like a new soap.
Even doctors will blow off the idea that you may have the herpes simplex virus 2 because you may not show common visible signs such as blisters. If you suspect that you may have contracted HSV-2 then request a blood test at your local clinic or doctors office even if your doctor may say that it’s not necessary.
Common symptoms of genital herpes are, but may not only include:
- Flu like symptoms
- A sore throat
- A rash at infection area
- Slight tingling at infection site
- Blisters
A full list can be found at this site about herpes symptoms. Remember though that everybody’s body is different and people can react differently with different infections.
Herpes can be spread through oral, vaginal, and anal contact so if you think that you may have come in contact with the virus through any of these means then it’s important to get tested as soon as possible and to refrain from any other sexual contact to ensure not to spread the disease any further.
