It’s that time of year again, spring has sprung and with it comes thought of the next version of the iPhone that’s rumoured to be on it’s way this summer. Taking a look at Apple’s previous releases it seems likely that the new model (to be dubbed iPhone 4G or iPhone HD depending who you speak to!) will be announced shortly for a June release-or thereabouts! (see update below) Naturally existing iPhone owners will probably be looking to upgrade to the latest handset which raises the question -what to do with old one? Well whether it’s off to eBay or a phone recycler you’ll want to erase your personal data and files first. Follow these steps and it’ll be a worry free process!
Steps
1. From your home screen open Settings
2. Tap on General
3. Scroll down then click Reset
4. Select Erase All Content and Settings
5. You will then be asked twice to confirm that you wish to erase everything.
Make sure your battery is fully charged before you start as wiping your iPhone clean can be a lengthy process (about an hour!) .
When it has finished you will be left with a clean install of the iPhone OS and be ready to upgrade to the latest model- whatever it ends up being called!
UPDATE: Apple have announced that the new iPhone 4 will be released on June 15th. Many existing iPhone owners will be able to upgrade early so get ready to wipe your data and trade in that old model for cash!
