We all have our favourite look, one which we live in all year round but is yours an old tshirt, jeans and whatever shoes you can find? It is easy to throw on some old favorites from the wardrobe but there are a few little changes which could make the world of difference to how you look.
1. Out with the old
If your clothes have seen better days, either they are too small, faded or have been worn too many times now is the time to consider getting rid of them. Clothes which are too small either mean that you have recently gained a little bit of weight in which case now would be time to look at new clothes or that you have had them since you were 12 and your style has more than likely evolved since tie-dye tshirts or leg warmers this is also closely linked to faded and worn too many times.
Look in your wardrobe and be harsh throw away clothes that you:-
- don’t wear
- don’t fit
- have seen better days
- you wore 10 years ago
- people are embarrassed to be seen with you when you wear it
2. Out and About
The best way to find new clothes is to look on the internet or take a visit to the shops, get an idea of whats on trend, whether you like it and how it is being worn. There is plenty of choice and something that will suit every taste.
3. In with the new
After you have an idea of what is available understanding your own style is the next step; some people wear suits and some people wear tracksuits – know your own style and you won’t impulse buy. Don’t try and stray too far from your comfort zone, but it is ok to try adventurous and try new styles.
Look for essentials, items that look stylish and classic from smart to casual clothes, a good selection of trousers, knitwear and polo shirts will mean you can combine different clothes to create different looks, dressing outfits up or down by changing your shoes or top half can make all the difference.
When buying new clothes think about how they would work together, buy a good selection:-
Knitwear is key for winter, buy quality knitwear look at different wool including merino and lambswool. Good quality knitwear washes well, retains it colour and with a bit care looks stylish for many wears.
Polo shirts are another key element for a wardrobe they offer a good transition between casual and smart being smarter than a tshirt.
Usually jeans and trousers are the easy part of your wardrobe, it is easy to buy jeans you like it is the fit that can sometimes be a challenge. Wear trousers you feel comfortable in just because skinny jeans look good on your friends does not always mean they will look good on you – try things on.
Matching your belt and shoes, try to find a belt that works with the shoes you are going to wear. A good quality black leather belt works well but with different coloured shoes consider buying the belt at the time.
